How accurate is it?+
The chart math (planetary positions, divisional charts, dasha timings) is computed via Swiss Ephemeris — deterministic and used by serious astrology software for decades. The interpretation layer uses a frontier large-language model with a verifier that checks every claim against the chart facts and classical rules. When the model is uncertain or wrong, you'll see it flagged inline. We err on the side of intellectual honesty over confident-sounding readings.
What if I don't know my exact birth time?+
You can still get a useful reading. Sun-sign and Moon-sign analyses work without a precise time. Anything involving the lagna (ascendant) or houses is more sensitive — we'll tell you what's verifiable vs. what depends on rectification. Time rectification from life events is on the roadmap.
Do you keep my chart data?+
Yes — we persist your chart context so subsequent conversations have it without re-entering details every time. You can delete your account (and all associated data) by emailing hello@phal.ai. Full data details in our privacy policy.

How is this different from ChatGPT giving me an astrology reading?+
Generic LLMs guess at chart math (often wrong) and invent yogas that don't apply to your chart. phal.ai computes the chart deterministically before the conversation, feeds the LLM real placements, and then verifies what the LLM claims against the chart + classical rules. The hallucination rate on chart-talk is meaningfully lower than asking a general-purpose LLM the same question.
Which astrology tradition does it use?+
Vedic / Jyotiṣa — sidereal zodiac, Lahiri ayanāmśa, whole-sign houses by default. Rules cited from Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra (BPHS), Phaladīpikā, Saravali, Uttara Kalāmrita, plus modern commentary. We're not built for Western tropical astrology — for that, other tools are better.
Does it work for non-Indian charts?+
Yes. The chart math is universal — any birth date, time, and location anywhere on Earth, any time in the last ~13,000 years. Vedic astrology is a system of analysis, not a geographic restriction.
